ChalkFest Buffalo! -September 14th and 15th

ChalkFest Buffalo! is a free annual event in the heart of Downtown Buffalo. This September 14th and 15th the event will be both inside and outside of the GLF grain silos at Buffalo Riverworks. Inside the grain elevators & silos gives artists a smooth concrete canvas that is protected from the elements of weather.  It also gives artists the ability to draw not just on the ground, but on the walls of the historic silos. This is not just a unique opportunity for artists, but a uniquely Buffalo opportunity as the historic grain elevators were invented here and have largely gone abandoned for the past few decades.

Periodic Table II -Arch Enemy Arts: August 2nd – 31st, 2019

Arch Enemy’s elements-themed group show returns for a second installment, challenging 12 new AEA artists to each create a moment or tell a story using only one of nature’s most basic building blocks. Through each artist’s style and creativity every choice is more than what it seems, less ordinary and more extraordinary, like Iridium, a crucial component in the building of satellites, as a symbol of communication and connectedness, or the unexpectedly close relationship between cobalt and goblins.

The show will feature new works by Allison Reimold, Carly Janine Mazur, Jack Shure, Joe Vollan, Kelly McKernan, Kristen Egan, Michael Camarra, Michelle Avery Konczyk, Nick Sheehy, Rebecca Reeves, Rebecca Yanovskaya, & Tronvs.

Thicket -Crucible Art Gallery: May 3rd

www.crucibleartgallery.com

“Thicket” features artwork based around obscure fairy tales and fairy tale creatures. Before Catholicism was imposed on many European countries, fairy tales were how people would warn of possible dangers lurking in the vast uncharted woods. Many of the characters of these stories closer resemble demons and witches, then the watered down fairy tale characters we grew up with.
