The 4th Annual Coaster Show – La Luz de Jesus Gallery: September 2nd – October 2nd, 2016
It’s hard to believe this year is already the fourth annual installment of the La Luz de Jesus Coaster Show! What started as a last minute substitution has grown into a legitimate institution–one of the most anticipated events of the LA Art Scene.
We’ve all done it. We’ve sat at the bar, drinking a beer and doodled on a coaster.
But most of us aren’t the extremely skilled painters, illustrators, animators, tattooists, sculptors or collage artists that are featured in this exhibition that takes a love of craft brewing and elevates it to high art.
We produced a custom canvas for some of our favorite gallery folks to do what they do best, and transform a 4″ tondo coaster into museum worthy exhibition pieces.
In these past four years, we’ve dotted our walls with thousands of tiny masterpieces, and this year we’ve got almost a thousand more, each priced $250 or less.

In conjunction with the 10th Annual FROGTOWN Art Walk, and the CURRENT:LA Public Art Biennial, Cactus Gallery will be hosting a show in which artists were asked to create works that center around the theme of water.
The Frogtown Art Walk – now celebrating its tenth anniversary – is a yearly free tour of the studios of the artists and artisans of Elysian Valley (Frogtown).
The BOWTIE parcel which is just on the other side of the L.A. River from Cactus Gallery is one of the sites chosen for CURRENT: LA Water, Los Angeles’ first citywide Public Art Biennial. The biennial runs July 16 – August 14, so the art walk was scheduled to overlap this event and we are complementing the idea via a water theme.

Seattle Squared Art Show and Book Release – Axis Gallery: August 4th, 2016
Curated by BHerd, Seattle Squared is the culmination of eight years of running a gallery, curating shows and events, and wanting to promote and further the beauty, talent, and thoughtfulness of the Seattle art scene. Each artist participating received a square panel to create a new piece of work for this exhibit, which will also be featured in a limited edition collectible book designed by Sarra Scherb of Brass Archer Media.

It’s what we believe brought us the valued community that we have been so grateful to have been a part of and to have called our family. When you square something in math you multiply a number by itself. This is truly how you create a revolution. Whatever your cause, you cannot do it by yourself, you must square yourself to make a difference. We are pleased to announce that Tanks and Helmets will be hosting our annual event at Seattle venue, Neumos on April 29, 2016 from 6-Midnite!
It started as this terrible idea to try and organize a group of unreliable, hard to find, social outcasts that spend their lives creating, destroying and exploring the fringe. It has taken some work but we’ve managed to round them up and turn it into a show. It changes a bit every year with new artists, different bikes, and new locations but tends to keep true to being a show that is meant to bring people from different backgrounds together over the common grounds of beers, bikes and bullshittin’. The ideas get more unique with each passing year. We are sure that year four will not disappoint.
